We are in the media business. All of us. You want to present your business to the world, or you wouldn’t be spending money online here to make money. So, we just might need to learn a thing or two about video as well. In later months, we will expand our tutorial to encompass some YouTube and face book strategies as well. But for our purposes today, you might want to make some of those fancy Craigslist video ads. This all begins with capturing the video you want to use. There are a variety of ways we do this. Sometimes it’s flash video, we use Sothink. Sometimes it’s YouTube, we use a custom plugin or Keepvid. Once we have the video, we need to learn how to convert it into an mpeg or an avi so our other software can handle it. For this we use Any Video Converter Pro.

Once we have converted it into something we can handle with our editing software, we like to use Virtual Dub to chop out the pieces we don’t want or need, and compress it with Xvid Codec. Once we are done editing it, and have compressed it, we can do one of two things with it. Upload it to YouTube, or convert the final product into a GIF to be uploaded onto Craigslist as a video ad. For this near final stage we use SWF-AVI-Gif converter. Once it has been converted into a GIF, we use Photoshop image ready to remove all the wasted extra frames. Even every second frame to make it smaller. Your video can go from hundreds of megs down to 6 megs. It’s quite drastic, but really easy once you get just how it’s done. In the graphics section at some point we will go more in depth on the GIF. It is very important to master the GIF if you want to be the King, or Queen, of Craigslist or yesbackpage.de.
